Torrey Bates
Executive Director

Torrey Bates is the executive director of For The Kingdom Inc. At eighteen years old Torrey decided to serve God in whatever way he could. His humanitarian efforts have been used to empower thousands of academically and socially-impaired boys and girls to become who they are meant to be despite the circumstances of their life. This endeavor has helped young people obtain free college educations and needed life skills.

Torrey is an ordained minister and received his BA in Bible and Theology at Carver Bible College, where he also spent three years as an athlete on the basketball team. Today Torrey spends his time with his family and also serves as a member of the Leadership Foundations Global Youth Initiative (LF). Torrey is responsible for leading sports camps and clinics and supporting LF network’s emerging leaders.

Matthew Marseille
Director of Camps

Matthew Marseille is an entrepreneur, educator and writer from Brooklyn, New York. After a series of knee injuries halted his professional basketball dreams, Matthew graduated from Tennessee Technological University with a B.S. in Exercise Science. During graduate school Matthew worked as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach before pursuing a career in education. While he values the lessons he learned and taught on the court, Matthew’s truest passion is to educate, challenge and advance minority communities. Now part of the Memphis community for two years, he is tasked with seeing this city maximize its potential, starting with young adults. Matthew’s experience in collegiate coaching, classroom teaching and camp administration equipped him to contribute to FTK’s Camp Memphis in the areas of fitness, leadership development and organization.

Joy Marseille
Assistant Director of Camps

Joy Marseille is an educator, writer and artist hailing from Central Florida. She spent her early adult years living in various cities, from Washington D.C. to San Jose, California, experiencing vibrant and diverse communities across the nation. Upon moving to Memphis two years ago, she fell in love with the rich culture and uncultivated talent here. Joy’s professional experience ranges from the classroom to non-profit administration, but her true passion is for her people. As a graduate of Howard University with a B.S. in Education (Human Development), Joy sees empowering young black people as a part of her life’s mission. She seeks to do this through education in cultural history, personal ancestry and exploring one’s own emotional and mental health. Joy met her husband, Matthew, working at a camp similar to FTK’s Camp Memphis and is excited to work with him again to make Camp Memphis THE premiere camp in the region.
